Action Governor Allan Bird and ESP MP’s Step In For Provincial Students Tertiary Fees Subsidy.

ESP Governor Allan Bird has confirmed that his Provincial Government is working on a school fee subsidy program to help its tertiary students in 2018.

The Governor said he is highly aware of the hardship the students and their parents will face due to the rise in school fees at tertiary levels.

Hence his Government with his fellow Sepik MP’s, despite the tough times faced by the economy and the fact that ESP is an agriculture based economy, are now working on a policy to subsidise school fees for all ESP tertiary students.

“We are sorting out the policy at the moment because the Province has never had a policy on this.
Essentially the policy will provide K2.0m for this purpose and there will be an agreed criteria that is fair to all Sepik children and hopefully augment the subsidy programs of open MPs. The policy will enable a maximum support of K2,000 per child. Should funding improve in the future, this assistance will increase.
“As soon as the policy is ready, we will implement.”
